The most important part of the Maya woman's costume is the 'huipil' or the blouse. The weave, design and style of each huipil is indicative of the village it is from. For information regarding the textiles of Guatemala click here.
All of the huipiles we sell (unless specified otherwise) were "daily use" huipiles, that means that the huipil was previously worn by the Maya woman of the village it is from. We do our best to describe any serious and obvious flaws, but be aware that there are some natural imperfections, as with any handmade item. Please be sure to read the descriptions carefully, the Mayan woman are usually very small, if you are planning to wear the huipil it might be necessary to have the arm and/or head openings enlarged.
